About the Institute
Who We Are
The Muni University Institute of Leadership and Governance (MUILG) is Uganda's premier centre for transformative leadership education, governance research, and community policy engagement — anchored in the West Nile region and reaching across the Great Lakes.
Our Mandate & Founding Context
MUILG was established by Muni University on 23 March 2026, recognising the urgent need for structured leadership development in Uganda's West Nile sub-region. The Institute was inaugurated under the leadership of Vice Chancellor Assoc. Prof. Simon Anguma Katrini, with Director Dr. Felix Adiburu Andama at the helm.
The Institute draws on partnerships with VNG International (Netherlands), WENDA, and government stakeholders to deliver programmes that are grounded in local reality and connected to international best practice.
Governed by the MUILG Charter, the Institute operates under Muni University's academic framework while maintaining a semi-autonomous mandate to engage flexibly with public, private, and civil society partners.
